Pregnancy, Birth, Baby and...Reflexology?

So, I’ve just had my first reflexology session! I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect other than having my feet massaged and some time for myself without the kids!

I was right about that, but it was so much more. Abi makes you feel comfortable and relaxed from the beginning. She takes a comprehensive look into past medical history as well as current health and lifestyle to understand your needs and then the magic begins! Abi has a firm pressure and you can relax back whilst Abi uses her skills and knowledge to work on certain pressure points correlating to different parts of the body.

As a holistic therapy, reflexology improves circulation and encourages the body’s own healing process, which is why it can be used in combination with medical care and importantly for my clients, during any stage or trimester in pregnancy or postnatally.

As a clinical reflexologist, holding a Level 5 Mastership (the highest level of training available for reflexology in the UK), Abi can help manage pregnancy symptoms including morning sickness and nausea, aches and pains, swelling and carpal tunnel syndrome as well as aiding postnatal recovery, physically and emotionally.

For the Mum-to-be who just can’t wait any longer to meet their baby, Abi can’t guarantee to bring on labour, but reflexology can help to relax the body at a stressful time and after 37 weeks of pregnancy, certain reflexes connected to the induction of labour can be stimulated.

At You Bump and Baby we often get asked how to manage stress and anxiety during pregnancy in addition to physical symptoms. Whilst as a physiotherapist, I can provide advice and reassurance regarding many of these issues, my speciality lies with postural management, adaptations and exercise to reduce the stress and strain on the body.

Abi is a true professional as well as being genuinely lovely and I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending her to any of my clients looking for some help during their pregnancy, labour or postnatally.
